School Games Mark 2024/2025

We are delighted to announce that we, St Gilberts, have achieved the School Games GOLD mark for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition and participation across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Lunchtime Play

The children are enjoying the addition of our play equipment trolley for breaktimes and lunchtimes, learning new skills and games with their friends.

Sports Day 2025

We were fortunate to have a beautiful sunny day and a wonderfully set up playing field (thank you to Pointon Parish Council and Pointon Football Club!) for our annual Sports Day. This was the first year of competitive races and Sports Houses, with the yellow team coming out as overall winners!

Tri-Golf Development Day - April 2025
We welcomed Elite back into school to introduce the children to the sport of Tri-Golf during an all-school development day.
The Year 3 and 4 children will be competing in the Inter-School League again this term so watch this space for updates!

KS2 SEND Wheelchair Festival

A group of children from Key Stage 2 travelled to Carres Grammar School to take part in a SEND Wheelchair Festival. They got to experience taking part in sports from a wheelchair and were absolutely fantastic, mastering it very quickly and enjoying the different activities available to them. Well done  ⭐

Year 5/6 Bikeability

Some of the children from Badgers class took part in Level 2 Bikeability and were presented with their certificates and badges during Celebration Assembly.
The tutor's feed back was outstanding for the group. They reported that they were amongst the most polite children that they had ever worked with, and that their manners were impeccable. They had shown great listening skills, kindness, and resilience and it had been a pleasure to work with them. As a school it is always wonderful to hear that our pupils have represented their school in such a manner. We are very proud of them and of all that they have achieved. Well done!

Year 5/6 Cross Country

A group of children from Badgers Class travelled to the annual Elite Cross Country event. On a bitterly cold February morning, they all showed true relience and determination to complete the 1.5km course, representing our school and our values brilliantly.

Red Squirrels (Y3/4) Bikeability

The children from Years 3 and 4 took part in Bikeability and have all passed their Level 1 with each child receiving a certificate and a badge. They all learnt new skills in preparation for their Level 2 next year!

Archery Development Day - October 2025
Alongside our Sports Partners, Elite, the children from KS2 participated in a development day where they practiced the sport of archery and for KS1, they brushed up on their target games, all under the expert eye of Mr Harris!
Year 5/6 Football Session - March 2025
The Year 5 and 6 children has a visit from Coach Sarah from the Lincolnshire Football Association who carried out two training sessions - one for the girls as part of the FA initiative #letgirlsplay and one for the boys.
A great time was had by all and there certainly were some rosy red cheeks afterwards! We can't wait to welcome Sarah back again!
