St. Gilbert of Sempringham C of E Primary School and Nursery

Courage and Perseverance Conquers All

Welcome

Welcome to The St Gilbert of Sempringham Church of England Primary School, Pointon.

I am delighted to be able to write to you as the Headteacher of St. Gilbert’s Church of England Primary School and Nursery. I feel privileged to be a part of this church school family working with the staff, children and their families in the Parishes of Pointon and Sempringham and beyond. Being a mum of two children, I am very much aware of the responsibility that my staff and I have in ensuring that the highest standard of teaching, learning and care is evident in all areas.

Values

Within the context of Christian belief and practice, our school has developed a set of core values which will continue to underpin all the work we do. These values will have a huge impact as your child develops. They help to deepen your child’s positive values and in doing so, help them consider the implications of their choices in relation to themselves, the communities from which they are part and the wider world.

Forgiveness, Wisdom, Honesty, Caring and Perseverance

We work on our understanding of these values during our Collective Worship sessions; we explore a different value each term.

Parent Partnership

I know how vital working in partnerships with parents really is, in order for children to find school a positive and rewarding experience. I strongly believe achievement and enjoyment go hand in hand to ensure each child’s excellent progress. I hope you will support our high expectations in all areas, especially in behaviour and achievement.

I passionately believe that children can and will only be able to learn and thrive if they are happy and in touch with their own physical and mental well-being. We prioritise good physical development through outdoor learning and our unique outdoor environment encompasses the need for ‘the outdoors’. We are committed to a Forest School ethos working with Blue Bells and Toadstools Forest School founder Jo Newman to ensure the development of the whole child. Our carefully planned and delivered curriculum for both the indoor and outdoor learning is designed to meet the needs of all types of learners.

Our Vision

Our vision is to ensure we are able to meet the needs of all our pupils to achieve their full potential in their academic, creative, personal, physical, moral and spiritual development.

Diversity

At St. Gilbert of Sempringham Church of England Primary School and Nursery we warmly welcome all. We strive to sow the seeds of success and foster pride and aspiration surrounded by an inspiring learning environment, within the love of God. We endeavour to fulfil everyone’s potential by increasing knowledge whilst experiencing a learning journey that is rich and diverse in opportunities. By embedding key and transferable skills, we equip all to become agents for change in our dynamic world.

Our desire is to develop an outlook on life that is respectful, empathetic and knowledgeable of world cultures and faiths. We seek, through Christian principles and beliefs, for all of our family to feel valued, valuable and motivated to achieve in our school, our community and the world beyond.
