St. Gilbert of Sempringham C of E Primary School and Nursery

Courage and Perseverance Conquers All

Opening on 4th January 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

After the recent announcement by the government regarding the return of schools on January 4th 2021, we are pleased to confirm, subject to further government directives, that children will be welcomed back to St. Gilbert’s on Monday.

With the escalation of the county to tier level 4, there will be some changes in school regarding the wearing of face coverings for members of staff (not children). Children will see staff wearing face-coverings more regularly when moving around school, although not in the classroom when teaching.

Children will continue to be taught in bubbles as before and will continue routines of hand washing and sanitizing.

The most significant change is that we will not be inviting any parents or carers onto site for any routine reason. Now that the Nursery children have settled into a routine staff will collect them from the main gate on the playground at 9 am and return them to the same gate at their collection time. The same arrangement will be in place for children at SAS before and after school. Please use the buzzer to alert staff you are here and we will assist with this. With the new variant of the infection being much easier to transmit, we want to try and make sure that we do everything we can to keep St. Gilbert’s open.

As before, could we ask that only one parent drop-off and collect in order to minimize congestion near the gates and remind you that you can only meet one person from another household in some outdoor public places .

A big thank you again for both your continued support and understanding. Hopefully with the advent of vaccination on the horizon, we may get back to some sort of normality before the summer.

Kindest regards

Emma Hunt
